Student Voters

Zapata County ISD students who are turning 18 years old can register to vote Zapata High School. High school principal serves as Deputy Voters Registrars to help students and staff complete the voter registration process. Voter registration cards are available through social studies classes and in the principal’s office.

The decision of whether to register to vote is purely voluntary, and the school does not require that students register to vote. You are eligible to vote if:

  • You are a United States citizen.
  • You are legally registered to vote in Texas.
  • You are at least 18 years old on Election Day.
  • You are not a convicted felon. (You may be eligible to vote if you have completed your sentence, probation, and parole.)
  • You have not been declared by a court exercising probate jurisdiction to be either totally mentally incapacitated or partially mentally incapacitated without the right to vote.
