Our Mission

The mission of Army JROTC is to "motivate young people to be better citizens" by teaching them leadership, character, and citizenship skills through a military-based curriculum. Our mission is to provide a high-quality education that empowers every student to reach their full potential and become a lifelong learner. We are committed to fostering a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment where students can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

 

Our Vision

The program focuses on developing students who are disciplined, physically fit, and drug-free, helping them to graduate from high school and pursue meaningful opportunities afterward, whether in higher education, the armed forces, or civilian careers.

Welcome to the Zapata Army Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps (JROTC) program! We are excited to have you as a member of our team for the upcoming school year. As a cadet, you are joining a tradition built on leadership, discipline, and service to our community. 

Purpose and mission

  • Mission: 

    To motivate young people to be better citizens by instilling values of citizenship, leadership, and service to the community.

  • Goals: 

    We aim to prepare you for responsible leadership roles while making you aware of your rights and responsibilities as an American citizen.

  • Curriculum: 

    The program, which uses Leadership Education and Training (LET), provides opportunities that benefit you, your community, and the nation. 

What to expect

  • A rewarding and challenging school year filled with opportunities to develop your skills and character. 
  • Participation in various activities, including community service events and extracurricular teams like drill, raider, and academic teams. 
  • The development of self-esteem, teamwork, and self-discipline. 

Important information

  • No military obligation: 

    Membership in the JROTC program does not create any obligation to join a branch of the military. 

  • Electronic portfolio: 

    You will be required to maintain an electronic portfolio of your work, as outlined in class and in Cadet Command Regulation 145-2. 

  • Questions and concerns: 

    Please feel free to come to us with any questions or problems that you cannot resolve through your student chain of command. We are here to help.
