Non Discrimination Statement

Notice of Nondiscrimination: It is the policy of Zapata County Independent School District (“District”) not to discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, handicap in its programs, services or activities as required by Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, as amended; Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972; and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as amended. The District shall provide equal opportunities to all individuals within its jurisdiction or geographic boundaries. Education Code 1.002(a) No officer or employee of a district shall, when acting or purporting to act in an official capacity, refuse to permit any student to participate in any school program because of the student’s race, religion, color, sex, or national origin. Civ. Prac. & Rem. Code 106.001 The District may not deny services to any individual eligible to participate in its special education program, but it shall provide individuals with disabilities special educational services as authorized by law. Education Code 1.002(b).

Aviso de no discriminación: Es la política del Distrito Escolar Independiente del Condado de Zapata (“Distrito”) no discriminar por motivos de raza, color, origen nacional, sexo, discapacidad en sus programas, servicios o actividades como lo requiere el Título VI de la Ley de Derechos Civiles de 1964, según enmendado; Título IX de las Enmiendas de Educación de 1972; y la Sección 504 de la Ley de Rehabilitación de 1973, según enmendada. El Distrito brindará igualdad de oportunidades a todas las personas dentro de su jurisdicción o límites geográficos. Código de Educación 1.002 (a) Ningún funcionario o empleado de un distrito, cuando actúe o pretenda actuar bajo su título oficial, deberá negar a ningún alumno la oportunidad de participar en un programa escolar debido a su raza, religión, color, sexo u origen nacional. El Distrito no puede negar servicios a ninguna persona elegible para participar en su programa de educación especial, pero debe de proporcionar servicios educativos especiales a personas con discapacidades según lo autorice la ley.
