Seniors able to apply to the PHC.

The Premedical Honors College is an 8-year BS/MD program that was set up in 1994 as a partnership between Baylor college of Medicine and UTPA. UTRGV is continuing this partnership program because of its resounding success.

Students apply to the PHC as high school seniors. Upon acceptance to the PHC, students receive conditional acceptance to Baylor College of Medicine for their medical education. The conditions students must attain to maintain their acceptance include a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher while at UTRGV. They must earn a B.S. from UTRGV, and they must obtain a minimal MCAT score (medical college admission test).

While at UTRGV, students are enrolled in their sciences as a cohort. They participate in a summer enrichment program in Houston following their freshman year at UTRGV. They are provided with a review/test preparation course for the MCAT, and they are able to participate in research, or pursue other educational endeavors.

Please review the attached information sheet, and share with students who are interested in pursuing a career in medicine.
